G Maps Extractor Review: The Ultimate Lead Generation Tool for Niche Markets

G Maps Extractor Review: The Ultimate Lead Generation Tool for Niche Markets

Word of mouth is useful, but to grow your business fast, you need a steady stream of leads. Lead generation has become its own industry, with entire companies dedicated to finding and selling leads. But paying for each lead is just cutting into your profit margin, especially when not every lead is guaranteed to turn into a sale.

What if there was a way to find b2b leads quickly, at scale, without having to pay a middleman? Well, now there is!

For the past few weeks, I’ve been testing out G Maps Extractor and the results have been incredible. I want to go over the different features, how I used it, and some ways you can use G Maps Extractor in combination with some other (free) tools online for even more powerful lead generation.

What is G Maps Extractor?

G Maps Extractor is a Google Chrome extension which can scrape data from Google Maps and Google My Business. This includes:

  • Business names
  • Contact numbers
  • Email addresses
  • Websites
  • Physical addresses
  • Ratings and reviews
  • Categories and descriptions
  • Opening hours

It can then export this data as a .csv file, giving you a spreadsheet of all the data.

G Maps Extractor is particularly useful for salespeople, digital marketers, and business owners looking to build a comprehensive database of potential clients in specific locations or industries. This is all publicly available data which can be accessed on Google Maps but organised in a way that makes it easy for a salesperson to identify potential leads.

How To Install G Maps Extractor

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to install G Maps Extractor as a Google Chrome extension. Unlike other Chrome extensions, you can’t currently download it directly from the Chrome store.

  1. Download the Extension:
  2. Unzip the Downloaded File:
    • Extract the zip file.
  3. Enable Developer Mode in Chrome:
      • Navigate to chrome://extensions in Chrome.
      • Enable Developer Mode (toggle it on in the top-right corner). This lets you install Chrome extensions from third-party providers outside of the Chrome web store.
  4.  Load the Extension:
    • Click on Load unpacked.
    • Select the folder where you extracted the G Maps Extractor files (e.g., G-MAPS-EXTRACTOR-v2.1.0).
  5. Complete the Installation:
    • The extension is now installed. Its icon will appear in the Chrome address bar.
    • You can pin the icon for easier access.
  6. Upgrade to Pro (Optional):
    • If desired, click the UPGRADE button in the extension to select a Pro or Business account plan.

How To Use G Maps Extractor To Find Leads

To get started with G Maps Extractor, choose a niche of businesses you want to find leads from and an area you want to search in. For this example, I’m using electricians in Basildon.

Go to Google Maps, and search for the niche you want to target

You will see a G Maps Extractor popup

Click on Start Extracting and G Maps Extractor will begin scraping the leads.

Once the plugin has finished extracting the leads, you can click on Export Detailed List.

You should now have a detailed .csv file with all the information the plugin was able to scrape from Google Maps/Google My Business about the businesses you found in your search.

By default, it will export all the data it has scraped. However, most of the time there are only a few bits of data that will be useful. For example, if you have the business address, you don’t also need its longitude and latitude. You can choose which data is exported by clicking on the G Maps Extractor Chrome extension and then clicking on the settings cogwheel and then ‘Export Setting’.

You can also choose how the data is exported. I tend to just use .csv, but you can export an Excel file or a JSON file if these are a better fit with your CRM.

You can also export directly to Google Drive.

How To Find High-Value Leads In The G Maps Extractor Data

The best approach to finding high-value leads in the exported data is to think about what pain point you are addressing. For example, I was trying to find digital marketing leads, so I considered the ways digital marketing could help these businesses. I decided to first focus on two of the services I could provide:

  • Building websites
  • Improving online reputation

To this end, I uploaded the file to ChatGPT and asked it to highlight all the entries which had:

  • No website listed
  • Less than 10 reviews or a review score under 4 stars.

This reduced the number of leads from over 150 down to around 60. I then handed this off to one of our salespeople to begin calling the leads and offering our website design services.

You can adjust this process depending on what you are looking for from your leads. Perhaps you provide local forwarding numbers and want to target leads that are still using mobile phone numbers as their business line? Or maybe you target companies which haven’t claimed their Google My Business profiles yet and offer to do this for them as a “quick win” to get them engaged before selling them other services.

Advantages of G Maps Extractor

As I mentioned earlier, all of the information that G Maps Extractor exports is publicly available data listed for free on Google Maps/Google My Business – so why would anyone use G Maps Extractor?

Well, there are a few reasons why I think it’s worth using and paying for the Pro version.

  1. Time Saving
While all of the information is listed on Google Maps, there’s no easy way to export the data without manually copying and pasting each piece of data into a spreadsheet yourself. G Maps Extractor automates this task, saving hours.
  2. Cost-Effective
Compared to the high prices charged by lead gen companies, the cost of G Maps Extractor PRO is minuscule, and you may not even need the pro version depending on which data you need and how much you need to use the extensions.
  3. High-Quality Data
Because the data comes directly from Google Maps, it is typically accurate and up-to-date. Many lead gen companies’ databases are months or even years out of date.
  4. Scalability
G Maps Extractor can scale with you, whether you are looking for 10 leads or 10,000.
  5. Versatility
Almost every business is listed on Google Maps/Google My Business. This means that whichever niche you are looking to target, you can find the leads you are looking for.

Limitations of G Maps Extractor

While I think G Maps Extractor is certainly worth using to generate leads, there are a couple of things to be mindful of.

  1. Dependence on Google Maps Data
The accuracy of the extracted data is only as good as the information available on Google Maps and Google My Business. Some businesses may not have up-to-date profiles, resulting in incomplete or missing data.
  2. Potential for Overlap
When extracting data in bulk, there is a risk of duplicate data, especially if searches cover similar geographic areas or business categories. One workaround for this is to use ChatGPT to scan the data for duplicates and remove them so you can redownload a cleaned version of the data.

Pricing

At the time of writing, there are three packages available, a limited free version, a $39.99 monthly “professional” package, and a $99.99 “business” package.

The Business plan allows you to scrape up to 500,00 leads a month and allows you to scrape leads from keyword searches as well as from Google Maps.

While the Business plan is still a good deal, as the professional package allows you to scrape 100,000 leads a month, it should be more than enough for most marketers.

Compared to the prices charged by lead gen companies, which can be hundreds per month for a handful of leads, G Maps Extractor’s ‘Pro’ plan is a bargain.

Final Verdict

G Maps Extractor is an extremely useful tool for marketers looking to streamline the process of finding new leads.

Its scalability, versatility, and user-friendly interface make it an accessible tool for beginners while still having some powerful features built in.

At a fraction of the cost of traditional lead generation services, G Maps Extractor is an excellent investment for anyone serious about growing their business and finding valuable leads.
