Paid Ads Case Study: TrekCo – The Trekking Company

TrekCo – The Trekking Company, is a provider of outdoor adventure activities across the UK. They have been running outdoor adventure trips for schools and colleges since 1989. 

As part of their activities, they also provide expedition and residential assessments for the Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE). When they approached us, they were interested in getting more leads for their Duke of Edinburgh Open Gold Expeditions which are expeditions designed for DofE members who don’t already have a group to do their expeditions with (like a school or sports club). 

To help achieve this, we built them a landing page with all the relevant details about their DofE trips, as well as a calendar of upcoming dates, and a downloadable PDF of information about the trip. 

We then set up a Google Ads campaign targeting searches related to gold level DofE expeditions. While at first, we were getting a lot of general enquiries related to the DofE as an organisation and even the Duke of Edinburgh himself, within a week we had narrowed down the searches to just the most relevant users (those who were looking specifically for Open Gold DofE Expeditions). 

We also built an automated email response to enquiries from their landing page with additional information about the upcoming expeditions. 

Since then, with our help their Google Ads campaign has continued to provide a steady stream of leads, and we have recently launched a second campaign for TrekCo focussed on DofE residential programmes in addition to camping expeditions.
